Service Projects

Character Development

Empower them with opportunities to make a difference in their family and community.  Kids need to discover the joy of making a difference.  You empower them when you help them feel valued and valuable.  Also when you give them opportunities to serve others you teach them responsibility and a sense of citizenship.  Projects will also teach them how to keep themselves and their neighborhood safe.

Service Ideas.

  • Make Valentines and deliver them as a circle to an assisted living center or nursing home.  Talk to residents about where they came from.  What was important to them when they were young?  How have things changed since they were your age etc...
  • Write thank-you notes and deliver them to any group of people who make your town a nicer place to live.  Arrange for a visit to learn about what they do.  See if they have any needs that your circle might be able to help with.  Consider fire stations, police stations, hospitals, school offices, town halls, senior cneters, town gardens, or parks.
  • Assist at a community food bank during the holidays.  Deliver meals to the less fortunate on Thanksgiving.
  • Plant trees or flowers in the town park or in cleaned-up vacant lots.
  • Clean the park, a section of the highway, or a vacant lot of trash.
  • Paint over graffiti on a building.
  • Sponsor a child through the mail.
  • Visit a senior citizen's center or nursing home around the holidays.
